About Us

Skydive Iowa is one of only a few airports that is skydiver owned. The drop zone is owned and operated by Bruce Kennedy. Bruce, who has been jumping since 1979 and has over 5,900 jumps, started Skydive Iowa in 1991.

The concept was to create a skydiving facility to meet the wants and needs of today's skydiver. It only takes one visit to realize that we are uniquely able to cater to the needs of everyone from the most highly experienced skydiver to the person who is making their very first jump.

Skydive Iowa is a recognized member of the United States Parachute Association (USPA) and all our staff members are properly licensed through the USPA. We have the most experienced Tandem and Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) instructors in the area. We also offer Static Line training for those who wish to make a more traditional solo jump.

All of our equipment is state of the art. Each tandem and student rig is equipped with an Automatic Activation Device (AAD) designed to automatically activate your reserve parachute if you fail to successfully deploy your main chute before the prescribed altitude. Our student program has an impressive safety record, which is one of the reasons that the majority of our beginning students end up returning again and again.

Our aircraft at Skydive Iowa are well maintained by licensed mechanics. In addition to the thorough FAA annual inspections, our planes are also inspected after every 100 hours of flight time. Discrepancies are remedied immediately by our experienced crew of mechanics.

Skydive Iowa also offers great comfort and amenities for jumpers and spectators alike. Ample parking and acres of grassy areas abound so your friends and family can watch your thrilling first jump, or they can film your milestone 1000th jump from the safety and comfort of mother earth.

Just pack a lawn chair or blanket, a cooler and plenty of film, then sit back and enjoy. After jumping we invite you to join us on the "Flight Deck" for a cold one while we fire up the BBQ grill. Bring something to cook out and discover why so many people have chosen to become a member of the Skydive Iowa Family.

Bon-fires are common on Saturday evenings after jumping. They provide a great place to tell your favorite "There I was...." jump stories and tall tales. Don't forget the s'mores.

Or hang out in the party room to listen to some music, play a game of pool, watch a video or play your favorite video game.

If you don't feel like driving home we offer rooms for rent with hot showers for jumpers and friends wanting to stay the night. Or simply pick a nice cozy spot in the grass and pitch a tent, no charge.

You'll soon discover at Skydive Iowa, it's all about enjoying life and the company of friends.
