The Advance Freefall Program has been used and developed since 1984 and is now the standard set by the USPA for self-supervision. As a part of your training, you will complete two tandem jumps to learn the basics. After that, you will take a solo transition class going over everything you need to make a solo jump. The AFP will teach you everything you need to be prepared for your first solo jump.
Static Line jumps occur at 3,000 feet and require no freefall. A line attached to the plane deploys your parachute as you jump. Ground instruction takes around 4 to 5 hours. After jumping, you will receive around 4 to 5 minutes of gentle parachuting before being directed to the student landing area. You must be 18 years old and under 240 pounds to take the Static Line course.
